When You Need a Cosmetic Dentist, You Need the Best

Your smile says a lot, but if you have cracked or missing teeth, you may be sending the wrong message. At Brooklyn Dental Spa, our Crown Heights, Brooklyn cosmetic dental services help you get a beautiful smile that you feel good about.

cosmetic-dental-issues

Repairing Chipped or Damaged Teeth

Cosmetic dentistry is a non-specific term that includes services that are restorative in nature. Any service that allows your smile to look picture-perfect could be classified as cosmetic dentistry. Our office provides the following procedures to repair teeth that have been compromised by caries, or chipping and cracking:

Composite Resin Restorations

Getting metal fillings helps treat instances of tooth decay, but they aren’t the best cosmetic restoration. Tooth-colored fillings are made from a resilient composite resin that matches natural tooth enamel. No one will know you’ve had a tooth filled.

Veneers

These shells sit on the surface of teeth and camouflage cosmetic flaws, like spacing between teeth, chips and fractures, and can even make teeth look multiple shades whiter.

Porcelain Crowns

A dental crown is placed over the top part of your tooth, protecting and strengthening it. Crowns are tooth-colored and custom-made for you, so your smile feels stronger and looks free of decay.

In-Lays and On-Lays

If you have a large cavity on a tooth, or an older, failing filling, in-lays and on-lays can fill defective parts of teeth. They need less tooth preparation than a crown and can conserve more of your own teeth. Just like our crowns and fillings, our cosmetic on-lays and in-lays are made to blend in with your real teeth.

Cosmetic dental treatments are intended to become a complimentary part of your natural smile, with all of the work blending natural teeth. By filling teeth that have been affected by tooth decay and injury, you get a beautiful smile that is free of dark spots and defects and can enjoy your renewed oral health.

Restoring a Missing Tooth

If you have missing teeth, we can help you get the most aesthetic and functional teeth replacements on the market. Our dentist, Dr. Shahin, proudly replaces teeth in Brooklyn, NY. Teeth replacements can look just like your real teeth and mimic their natural strength as well.

Because tooth replacements are surgically installed, and strengthened by faux tooth roots, you can get all the health benefits of natural teeth. Tooth fixtures are restored by our natural-looking crowns or bridges and are completely separate pieces. There is no cutting down of existing teeth, or uncomfortable removable prosthetics to wear. Unlike bridges and dentures, which may not look natural, tooth replacements are the best choice for cosmetic benefits.

Modernized Cosmetic Procedures

Brooklyn Dental Spa offers patients the latest cosmetic dental alternatives. We have a fully digital dental office and plan our procedures using computerized 3D scans; you can be sure that your treatment is designed to meet your personal needs for care.

We even offer well-known brands in cosmetic dentistry, such as Zoom!® teeth whitening and Lumineers® porcelain veneers. With Zoom! whitening, our patients get whiter smiles in just one visit to our Brooklyn dental office. For patients who are interested in getting veneers, Lumineers® provide beautiful results, with a minimal prep approach to veneer dentistry.

What is the fundamental difference between general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry?

Reply

dekalb-avenue-observer-392

@brooklyn borough hall remover 11204, cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental work performed to enhance the appearance of teeth, gums, and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvements in dental aesthetics such as color, position, shape, size, alignment, and overall smile appearance. A wide range of techniques is available to enhance almost any smile. Gone are the days when you had to accept chipped, stained, or crooked teeth. Advances in technology and materials ensure that cosmetically enhanced teeth now look more natural and last longer than they did previously. Cosmetic dentistry is a broad area of dentistry that encompasses various treatments tailored to the needs of the patient, including: • Teeth Whitening/Bleaching • Bonding • Composites, veneers, and laminates • Dental crowns, etc. When distinguishing between general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, the difference is quite straightforward. General dentistry addresses patients needing dental work or checking for cavities and involves basic and preventive procedures provided by a general dentist. In contrast, patients concerned with the appearance of their teeth are more likely to consult a cosmetic dentist, who specializes in treatments that enhance the whiteness, brightness, and natural look of the teeth. Both general and cosmetic dentists possess the skills required to perform a range of dental procedures, whether simple or complex.

Are braces cosmetic dentistry?

@rockaway parkway officer 11201, in some instances, effective orthodontic work eliminates a patient’s need for cosmetic treatments. Additionally, braces can be considered part of cosmetic dentistry if misalignment is noticeable but not impacting oral health. Braces used for these purposes would fall under the cosmetic category.

What are the common cosmetic dentistry procedures?

articaine-cleaner-594

@sunset park officer 11230, common procedures performed by a cosmetic dentist are teeth whitening, dental veneers, dental bonding, and dental implants. Teeth whitening helps brighten and remove stains from teeth, while veneers are thin shells placed over the front surface of teeth to enhance their appearance. Dental bonding involves applying a tooth-colored resin to correct minor flaws like chips or gaps. Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth, providing a natural-looking and lasting solution. Additionally, cosmetic dentists may also perform procedures like dental crowns, orthodontic treatments, and gum sculpting to improve the appearance of a patient's smile.

Why is cosmetic dentistry so much more expensive than regular dentistry?

cadman-plaza-observer-34

@brooklyn chinatown explorer 439, I often tell my patients that it's far less expensive to maintain your existing teeth than to replace the ones you lose. 40 years ago, a dental bridge was the method we used to replace teeth. As you can see, a dental bridge involves preparing and crowning the 2 teeth on either side of the gap. You're paying for substantial dental chair time and the laboratory technician who actually creates the bridge. We've come a long way in the last 40 years and today we have implants. A titanium implant is surgically placed in your jaw and is generally given 3 months to integrate with the bone. Then an abutment and crown are screwed into the implant. Notice the adjacent teeth are left untouched. You will likely spend less time in the dental chair, but the implant, abutment, and other necessary components are very expensive. The laboratory work is also more costly than a conventional bridge. The bottom line is once again…take care of what you already have. There are many hereditary conditions and accidents which led to tooth loss. I'm aware of all this. We still do our best to improve our dental health even under less-than-ideal conditions. Bottom line, it depends on the procedure. Some cosmetic procedures can be more expensive. Please feel free to contact us for cost estimates for different cosmetic procedures.

How can cosmetic dentistry improve your smile?

Reply

best-scaler-11201

@brighton beach fan 847, aside from traditional methods such as hygiene and infection control, dentists now can do remarkable things with Cosmetic Smile Enhancement (CSE) techniques to improve smiles. Many people are dissatisfied with the appearance of their smiles, and seek help with improving the alignment, size, shape, and/or color of their teeth. Improvements may include straightening and aligning the teeth (orthodontics), brightening the color or shade (bleaching, bonding, crowns, and/or veneers), and altering the length, width, and proportions of one or more teeth (bonding or crowns/veneers). Some smile makeovers might incorporate all of the above procedures.

What are the pros and cons of cosmetic dentistry?

Reply

ditmas-avenue-scrubber-687

@endodontist energizer 11217, cosmetic dentistry is a dental specialization aimed at enhancing the appearance of a person’s teeth and their smile. The advantages or pros of cosmetic dentistry can be listed as follows: • Boosting self-confidence: In a world where physical appearance carries significant weight, a treatment capable of adding sparkle to the smile and thus the look of the face is worth recognizing. Many individuals are not born with a perfect and well-shaped dentition. Therefore, they prefer to smile covering their mouth, and hence the successful expression of happiness or glow cannot occur. Poor teeth might also hinder professional advancement. Hence, cosmetic dentistry comes to the rescue. Cosmetic dentistry has the ability to fix improper teeth and gum structure, thus boosting the self-confidence of many. • Captivating youthful look: Maintaining healthy teeth brings numerous benefits. It not only keeps the internal health of an individual in check but also significantly changes the facial appearance of a person. Healthy teeth can reduce the biological age of a person by many years, thus presenting a youthful and vibrant look. A sparkling smile brightens the entire face. • Elevating the health standard: Poor oral health can lead to various health issues. To name a few, kidney problems, heart diseases, oral cancer, and even diabetes can arise. Decaying teeth and gum disease are not to be overlooked either. Cosmetic dentistry encourages people to take good care of their teeth and thus can result in the elimination of health risks. On the other hand, the disadvantages of cosmetic dentistry can be examined under the following headings: • Cost: The treatment that has so much potential to transform lives definitely does not come with a low price. Cosmetic dentistry involves various treatments and surgeries. Procedures like orthodontia and implants are not very cost-effective. Those without insurance coverage might face financial challenges. • Sensitivity of teeth: The popular treatment called whitening has a downside known as sensitivity. Whitening can heighten the temperature sensitivity of the teeth. Intake of wine and berries can increase the sensitivity of the teeth and cause discomforting sensations. • Permanent treatment: It must be remembered that once a cosmetic dentistry procedure is performed, it cannot be reversed. Thus, proceeding with complete confidence is absolutely necessary.

What consists of cosmetic dentistry?

@gingiva brusher 11221, some common procedures that fall under the category of cosmetic dentistry are: • Tooth Whitening: This is quite a straightforward procedure that doesn’t take a lot of time. This is quite an economical procedure that can even be performed at your home. However, it’s better if you visit a dental clinic for tooth whitening. Bleaching products are used to achieve tooth whitening. This is the cosmetic procedure that is performed the most. • Dental Bonding: This procedure is ideal for people with deeply stained or chipped teeth. During dental bonding, composite bonding materials used for dental fillings are commonly applied. Dentists can give an ideal shape to your teeth because the bonding material is moldable. Critics of dental bonding don’t like it because its lifespan is not very long. • Dental Veneers: For those who want a longer lifespan, dental veneers are perfect. Dental veneers are slim porcelain shells that are fitted on the facial surface of the teeth. Just like materials used in dental bonding, veneers can be shaped according to the patient’s teeth. Custom veneers are made in a dental lab after the dentist evaluates your teeth. Once the dentist evaluates your teeth, a temporary veneer is placed before applying the permanent one. Like dental bonding, veneers are used by people with dark staining that doesn’t go away with bleaching and those with chipped or fractured teeth. • Invisalign Braces: Invisalign braces are not easily visible. So, they’re perfect for adults who want a better smile but, for some reason, didn’t use braces when they were younger. Although the main function of braces is to improve aesthetics, they can also address other issues. For instance, chronic pain caused by misalignment of the teeth can be corrected using braces. • Enamel Abrasion: The main purpose of this procedure is to remove discoloration. Fine pumice in a micro-abrasion machine is used to eliminate surface stains in this procedure. This procedure helps remove stains caused by products like tobacco, wine, soda, coffee, etc. However, this process is not effective in removing natural stains.

What are the benefits of cosmetic dentistry?

Reply

sealant-explorer-11210

@jay street examiner 921, cosmetic dentistry is a procedure that is not essential to achieve dental health. That said, there are situations where enhancing the appearance of someone’s teeth can be life-changing for the better. An example is someone with tetracycline staining. The teeth are darker and vary in shades of dark yellow, grey, and black banding. People can be so self-conscious that they never smile. Providing cosmetic treatment such as whitening or veneers can make a significant difference to this person. I would say at certain times cosmetic dentistry is crucial to someone’s wellbeing. The top cosmetic treatment in dentistry is whitening. Some simple reshaping of the edges of teeth can make a considerable difference to someone’s smile. If patients like the appearance of their teeth, then they are more likely to care for them and protect their investment.
