Tooth Replacementsnear Red Hook

tooth-replacements

Missing teeth can affect more than your smile; when we have missing teeth, other complications occur, such as biting difficulties and affected speech. Dental implants offer a long-lasting, predictable solution to tooth loss by providing an anchor for new teeth. At Brooklyn Dental Spa, we perform dental implants in Brooklyn NY for patients who are searching for a beautiful and functional smile.

What Is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are the result of significant advancements in dental research. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed in the bone in place of the tooth's natural root. This post is fitted with an abutment, onto which new crowns and bridges or dentures are fixed. Dental implants can also function as a stable anchor for permanent dentures and are known for their retention and ability to nurture good oral health.

Who is Qualified to Get Dental Implants?

To get dental implants in Brooklyn, you should be in otherwise good dental health. Signs of periodontitis or bone loss from missing teeth should be discussed with our dentists before your treatment plan can be put into action. Patients who are considering getting dental implants should also be non-smokers, as tobacco use prevents your body from healing after the surgical placement of dental implants.

What Are the Advantages of Dental Implants?

Esthetics

You may have noticed that people who are missing multiple adjacent teeth develop a kind of depleted or sunken-in look. This problem is caused by diminishing jaw bone density. Dental implants prevent premature aging and a sunken appearance by stimulating the jawbone and filling out your smile.

Function

Dental implants allow new dentures and dental crowns to behave like real teeth. Our patients discover they are able to chew, bite, and speak as they normally would, without having to worry about the inconveniences normally associated with traditional removable prostheses or less permanent restorations. Because the alloys used in dental implant treatment are durable and resilient, Brooklyn patients can enjoy their strong new smiles forever.

Stability

The titanium dental implant fuses to the bone through a process known as osseointegration. Posts become part of the jawbone, so when new restorations are fitted onto the dental implants, they cannot move around, or slip. This reinforces the strength of your new teeth, as well as healthy bone retention.

What Are Different Types of Dental Implants?

There are multiple types of dental implant restorations available in Brooklyn depending on the patient's expectations and resources. Here are a few popular options:

Implant-Supported Bridge

Sinle-Unit Implant Crown

Implant-Supported Over Denture

All-On-4 Implant Denture

I'm very interested in learning more about dental implants! I've been considering them for a while now, as I've been having issues with my existing teeth. Could you tell me more about the process, and how long it typically takes for implants to be placed and fully integrated? Also, are there any specific guidelines or things I should be aware of for post-treatment care and maintenance? I'm particularly concerned about achieving a natural appearance and ensuring the longevity of the implants. I'd love to see some success stories or testimonials from people who have had dental implant procedures.

@family-preventer-11216 dental implants are generally very successful. After your consultation, if you are a good candidate for implants, meaning you have enough bone height and width in your gums, and you do not have any medical issues preventing you from getting dental surgery, the implant fixture or a screw is placed in the jaw bone. After that, the patient would have to wait 3 to 6 months for the complete healing and integration of the bone into the implant. Then a porcelain crown is made by scanning the implant, which would take about a week. This crown is screwed or cemented on top of the existing implant. If the implant is kept clean by flossing daily, it should last many decades. Functionally and cosmetically, dental implants are comparable with natural teeth. Please feel free to call our staff or come in for an appointment for your individual treatment.

@septocaine blocker 11210, based on my experience with five dental implants: Positive Aspects: They function like real teeth, feel natural, and look even better than my original teeth. Negative Aspects: Dental implants, especially from well-known brands with a proven track record, are very expensive. The process requires highly skilled professionals and specialized equipment, making it a costly investment. However, the quality you receive often reflects the price you pay.

What is a dental implant?

Reply

7th-avenue-sealer-585

@mucosa provider 228, a dental implant is a small yet robust titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia to replace missing teeth. It not only restores your smile but also gives you a new look with a new tooth. Duration of Treatment The process typically involves 3–4 appointments, all performed in a dental chair under local anesthesia: - Initial Procedure: The first appointment involves placing the dental screw into the bone. If there is insufficient bone, a bone graft may be performed at this stage. After this, you will need to wait for the implant to heal. - Second Appointment: Once healing is complete, the healing cap is removed and an abutment is placed. A temporary crown is also added during this visit. - Final Phase: After complete healing, a permanent crown is fitted onto the abutment. Maintenance Post-treatment, it is crucial to maintain your implant through regular follow-up visits and good oral hygiene practices.

Which implant brand is the best one?

insurance-remover-344

@best healer 11210, Nobel Biocare isn't necessarily the best option for everyone. As a dental lab working with a range of implant companies, including 3I, Zimmer, and others, I can attest that the success of an implant depends largely on the expertise of the surgical and restorative dentists, as well as the skill of the dental laboratory involved. While Nobel Biocare is a well-regarded brand, many other reputable manufacturers like ITI-Straumann, 3I, and Zimmer also produce high-quality implants. These brands are used by some of the top dentists globally. Ultimately, the key to successful implant treatment lies in the combined experience and teamwork of the surgeon, restorative dentist, and dental lab, rather than the brand of the implant itself.

greenwood-cemetery-keeper-103

@implant filter 11212, dental implants are titanium posts designed to replace missing teeth. They are biocompatible, meaning they integrate well with the jawbone and are a safe and effective alternative to traditional removable dentures. Implants offer a stable and permanent solution without posing any inherent risks. The common complications with dental implants could include, swelling, excessive bleeding, post-surgery infection, and numbness (trigeminal nerve damage).

What is the tooth implant procedure like?

Reply
1 reply
south-slope-follower-11212

@foster avenue flosser 11234, once you decide to get a dental implant, several steps are involved in the process: • Health Assessment: Blood tests are performed to check for any bone-related disorders that could affect implant success. • Imaging: A CBCT scan and other X-rays are conducted to precisely plan the implant placement. • Surgical Procedure: The procedure begins with an incision in the gums at the implant site. The implant is then inserted into the bone, and the gums are sutured. • Healing Period: A waiting period of 3-4 months is required for the titanium implant to integrate with the bone and for the site to heal. • Restoration: After the healing period, a crown is placed over the implant. In some cases, particularly in the aesthetic region, a temporary crown may be placed immediately after the implant is installed. This process ensures proper integration and functionality of the dental implant, providing a durable and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth.

What should I consider before getting a dental implant?

Reply
1 reply
general-chaser-842

@tongue shopper 593, when considering a dental clinic or dentist for implant procedures, patients should evaluate the following factors to ensure they receive quality care: • Implant Brand: Confirm the brand of the implant being used. Reputable brands often come with higher costs but may offer better long-term results. • Dentist's Expertise: Check if the dentist performing the procedure is experienced and qualified. Some clinics may have an on-call implantologist, so it’s crucial to know who will be handling your case. • Equipment and Instruments: Ensure the clinic has a specific implant brand's instrument kit and whether they use their own or share equipment with other clinics. • Diagnostic Facilities: Verify if the clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools like a full-mouth X-ray or CT scan, which can enhance the accuracy of implant placement. • Additional Expertise: Check if the clinic offers additional services such as bone grafting, sinus lifts, or ridge augmentation, which may be necessary depending on your individual needs. Advanced clinics typically have their own implant-specific kits, physiodispensers (drilling machines), in-house implant inventory, and facilities for 3D printing and crown fabrication. They are also likely to have expertise in various procedures that may be required for successful implant surgery. Choosing a clinic with these features can ensure a higher level of care and potentially better outcomes for your dental implant procedure.

cobble-hill-investor-11216

@swelling screener 11211, the lifespan of a dental implant can vary based on several factors, including the patient's oral health, the quality of the implant and the procedure, and the patient’s habits and lifestyle. With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last for many years—potentially even a lifetime. Research indicates that the success rate for dental implants exceeds 95% after ten years, and many patients have enjoyed successful implants for 20 years or longer.

fort-greene-fan-393

@prospect avenue brusher 426, bridges and partial dentures are common solutions for replacing missing teeth, including those that only need to replace a single tooth. Temporary cosmetic fake teeth, which can be purchased online, and artificial teeth attached to retainers are also available options. These alternatives provide temporary solutions and can be used while waiting for more permanent treatments like implants or bridges.

Do dental implants look unnatural?

hygiene-shooter-192

@premolar cleaner 11230, no, dental implants are not noticeable. If you have missing, damaged, or broken teeth and are seeking an effective restoration solution, dental implants might be the right choice for you. They offer a permanent, long-lasting solution. Your bright, natural smile will be preserved and will look authentic. Dental implants are titanium posts that function as artificial tooth roots. They are surgically placed into the jawbone, acting like screws that provide a stable base for one or more crowns. Custom crowns are crafted to match the color and shape of your natural teeth, ensuring a seamlessly white and natural-looking smile.

Can you remove a dental implant?

Reply
1 reply
mouth-fan-11232

@hygienist examiner 11217, yes, if a dental specialist needs to remove an implant, it usually indicates that the implant has failed. Implant failure can be categorized into two main types: early failure and late failure. Early failure typically occurs within the first few months after placement, often due to issues such as inadequate bone integration or infection at the site. Late failure occurs after the implant has successfully integrated with the bone and has been in place for some time. This can be caused by factors such as gum disease, mechanical problems with the implant or restoration, or excessive stress on the implant. In either case, proper diagnosis and treatment are crucial to address the underlying issues and explore potential solutions.

Where should I get my dental implant?

Reply
2 replies
east-williamsburg-examiner-11215

@bedford-stuyvesant whisperer 11221, I do have some suggestions that might help. The short answer is to choose the dentist you trust regardless of the price. If you have a regular dentist that you completely trust and have seen for years, and if he or she offers dental implants, that should be your answer. But what if you do not know one? In that case, the best way to get to know the dentist is to review their social media page. Online reviews are not only confusing and misleading in most cases, but they do also not paint a great picture of the work. However, with the prevalence of Instagram and TikTok, you should be able to find dentists who post their actual work on their Instagram or TikTok profile. At Brooklyn Dentist, we have posted many of our actual implant restorations on Instagram (@1st_imrpession_dental) for our 30k followers, and it is a great tool for patients to see exactly what they should expect. As a general rule, try to stay away from practices that refuse to tell you what their fees are. Transparency is everything when it comes to trust. Why should you go to a dentist who tries to hide information from you? We also try to keep the cost of care low while offering the highest quality of care we can by choosing the best labs, the best implant products, and getting the latest technologies. Our implant fees are about $1000 less than the average cost in Brooklyn based on the research provided earlier, and that is very much on purpose. Our goal is to offer quality dental implants to as many people as possible in Brooklyn and NYC.

Reply
east-williamsburg-examiner-11215

In summary, to find the best implant option at a reasonable cost, do research social media profiles of dentists who offer dental implants. Once you have found a few that match your expectations, then you can contact them and find out which one offers you the most reasonable option. It is usually helpful to have a consultation with more than one dentist about implants because once you place them, removing them is not going to be easy or sometimes possible without causing a lot of bone loss, and please keep in mind that this is a procedure you want to get right the first time.

What factors determine the cost of dental implants?

Reply
2 replies
incisor-energizer-760

@new york avenue laugher 356, the answer to this question is not always straightforward. If you have researched to find out what the cost of a dental implant is, you might not have gotten a direct answer because multiple factors influence the cost of implant restorations. Here are some of those factors, 1. Where do you get dental implants? This is by far the most important factor. There is no set fee for dental implants, so each office determines their fee based on their internal processes and the dental surgeon's skills and comfort with the procedure. Additionally, the city or state where you get the procedure can greatly influence the cost of it. Based on our research, even within the Brooklyn area, the cost of a dental implant can vary immensely from one office to another. We will discuss this in detail a little later in this article. 2. What adjunctive procedure do you need for implant restorations? To qualify for a dental implant procedure, a patient needs to first have the defective tooth, or its roots removed. Then he or she will have to wait for the bone to grow into the tooth socket before getting the implant. Many offices do provide same-day dental implants, where they remove the tooth, place the implant, and load it with an implant crown on the same day, which research shows can easily lead to poor aesthetic results and even implant failure. However, sometimes the bone that fills in the socket is not enough. One will need enough alveolar bone width and length to physically hold the tooth implant. If this is not the case, you might need additional bone grafts. So, in addition to the implant itself, the patient might need an extraction, sinus lift, or one of many different types of bone grafts.

Reply
incisor-energizer-760

3. What type of implant restorations do you need? There are multiple types of restoration, from removable implant-supported dentures to fixed full-arch implant-supported porcelain crowns and bridge work to deal with multiple missing teeth, and the cost is significantly different depending on the type of restoration the patient is getting. 4. What is the lab cost for making the crown? This factor is not something the patient is usually concerned with, but at the end of the day, the cost of the procedure for the office will somehow get passed down and affect the patients' out-of-pocket costs.

rockaway-parkway-aligner-11220

@canarsie provider 11213, dental implants have become increasingly popular during the past two or three decades due to their effectiveness in aesthetics and functionality. In fact, implant-supported restorations have become the standard of care for treating edentulism (missing all teeth). Due to this increase in demand, we get countless inquiries about the cost of dental implants in our office. We understand that implant procedures can be costly, and it is no surprise that they influence our patients' decision-making when they are offered implants as a solution for missing teeth.

Should I choose the cheapest dental office or a dental school?

Reply

brooklyn-museum-shooter-8

@composite explorer 11210, I would advise against this. I think most of us would rather pay a little more for our health and safety and get quality work. Even though you might receive great care in a dental school, you are being practiced and trained on by students. In offices that charge the lowest fees, the odds are some quality is sacrificed for the quantity. Either cheaper labs or cheaper implants are used, or the surgeon or the prosthodontist might not spend the time needed to deliver quality work. Either way, it is usually not the best idea to shop for a dental implant like you would for a toaster.

Should I get dental implants in Turkey, Mexico, or Colombia?

Reply
1 reply
franklin-avenue-finder-11215

@parkside avenue chaser 11219, absolutely not. It is not that there are no skilled dental surgeons in remote areas, but the simple fact is that there is a lot that could go wrong with the procedure, and you will need to have access to your doctor if anything goes wrong or adjustments are needed. Placing dental implants in a foreign country could complicate that. Not only that, implant systems used in other countries might be different than the ones used in the United States, so in case you need any repairs or replacements later on, you might have a hard time finding a dentist who can work with an unknown type of implant. To save yourself a lot of headaches and suffering, just stay away from doing strange things and use common sense. I have personally dealt with those cases, and they do not end well.

@fracture keeper 826, there are a lot of things to consider before answering this question but to completely simplify our answer, we are not going to discuss adjunctive costs or the lab cost, and we will simply consider the cost of this procedure in Brooklyn, and for a single dental implant, which is the titanium screw that holds the crown plus the crown restoration that is loaded on top of the implant. That is the entire process of replacing only one single tooth, which is the most common reason patients get dental implants. We contacted a large number of dental offices across and all over Brooklyn, NY to find out what the cost of a tooth implant really is during the late months of 2023, and here are the results from the lowest to the highest cost, Office Name: Ralph Avenue Dental Care Address: 2348 Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11234 Phone: (718) 531-0300 Cost of Surgical Placement of Implant: $1,000.00 Cost of Implant Crown: $1,000.00 Total Cost: $2,000.00 Office Name: Broadway Family Dental Address: 372 Stockton St, Brooklyn, NY 11206 Phone: (718) 455-4400 Cost of Surgical Placement of Implant: $1,500.00 Cost of Implant Crown: $1,350.00 Total Cost: $2,850.00 Office Name: Heights Dental Address: 107 Joralemon St Suite 1, Brooklyn, NY 11201 Phone: (929) 337-1900 Cost of Surgical Placement of Implant: $1,350.00 Cost of Implant Crown: $1,500.00 Total Cost: $2,850.00 Office Name: Glenwood Dental Care Address: 1569 Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11236 Phone: (718) 251-7167 Cost of Surgical Placement of Implant: 1,100.00 Cost of Implant Crown: $1,900.00 Total Cost: $3,000.00

What are the reasons not to get dental implants?

Reply

bensonhurst-aligner-674

Dental implant restoration is usually the best alternative for restoring missing teeth. However, not everyone qualifies for getting them. 1. You need enough bone height and bone width for an implant. If you do not have enough bone to house an implant, you might not be a good candidate. In many cases however, there are bone graft options that could rebuild enough jaw bone for implant placement. 2. Proximity to vital structures such as the trigeminal nerve or the maxillary sinuses can limit your options. Sinus lifts and bone grafting might help in these cases as well. 3. Health issues such as radiation to the head and neck, blood thinners, severe dry mouth and some other health issues can be contraindications to getting dental implants. Your first step is always a consultation. Please book your appointment with Brooklyn Dentist if you live in Fort Greene, Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, NYC, Bay Ridge, or other parts of Brooklyn, and our doctor will evaluate you for dental implants before proceeding to the surgery to make sure you are a good candidate for it.

@pits-shopper-508 screw-retained dental implants are composed of two different pieces. The first part is the implant fixture that is placed in the jaw bone. The cost of the implant fixture without insurance is $1750. The second part is the screw-retained porcelain crown that is placed on the implant 3-6 months after the surgical placement of the implant. The cost of the crown without insurance is also $1750. We do accept most private PPO dental insurance plans. Some plans do cover a portion of the cost. You can always contact Brooklyn Dentist to ask about dental implant coverage for your specific insurance plan.
